Brahmastra Trailer Review

Brahmastra Trailer Review: Is India going to witness its first celebrated superhero trilogy?

Dharma Productions dropped the Brahmastra trailer of the much-awaited movie of 2022. Brahmastra, stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, and Mouni Roy in the lead roles.

Introduction

The Brahmastra trailer has finally arrived after months of teasers, announcements, motion posters, the Kesariya song, and the big wedding. The trailer gives us a sneak peek of Astraverse (unrelated to the multiverse). It is a universe that uses four elements of nature to create mythical superheroes. Also, the movie stars Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. It has an ensemble cast that includes Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjun, to name a few. The Brahmastra trailer has created quite a stir among the audiences.

The first part of the trilogy, set to release on September 9, tells the tale of Shiva (Ranbir Kapoor). He is a young, carefree boy who falls for Isha (Alia Bhatt). However, Shiva discovers a mysterious link to the Brahmastra. He begins to comprehend his connection with the power of fire turning his world upside down.

The film promises to take the viewers on a trip to ‘Astraverse’. Shiva enters the land of ‘Astras’ and eventually discovers that he is no-ordinary Shiva but the universe’s divine hero. Additionally, the film introduces Nagarjun, an artist who wields the ‘Nandi Astra,’ maybe a man protecting the Astras from the evils. Amitabh Bachchan appears as the ‘Guru’ who knows everything about the Astras, and perhaps he makes Shiva realize his true power.

Unfortunately, there is always a villain who wants to seize control and tear the fabric of society in superhero movies. For this, we have Mouni Roy, who is playing the Queen Of the Dark, and Junoon, who gives us total dark villain vibes. When you observe the trailer, you may notice that there are still two characters in the film. Speculations are that Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan may give a special cameo. The audience is also excited to release the full music album, and the background score leaves a lasting impression.

While the fans are excited about how part one of this trilogy will end, I have a few concerns. Brahmastra is that sort of movie that will either surpass all charts and records and become a game-changer for Hindi movies, or perhaps a big flop by expectation rather than box office revenue. Nothing in the middle. Barring the Krish trilogy and ridiculous superhero movies like Flying Jatt, India has witnessed the superhero genre through international films or series.

I am a bit worried about the cinematography, which is highly dependent on special VFX, and they missed dialogues, which is quite evident on social media. However, Brahmastra promises to deliver something different, a superhero movie that is more Indian and has connected the concepts with Hindu mythology. Alia and Ranbir’s chemistry is not as sizzling as marketed. Take, for example, the trailer’s reveal of Isha and Shiva’s first meet moment. That particular scene from the Brahmastra trailer appears to have been captured through a filter, which seems far from reality. Consequently, other sequences tend to follow this narrative as well.

Brahmastra Trailer: Yay or Nay?

Brahmastra Trailer: Yay or Nay?

The way the makers had already announced the movie as a trilogy gives us the confidence that the movie has something solid to offer. Netizens have started trolling the Brahmastra trailer for its VFX, dialogues, the film showing ‘Sasti Marvel’ feels, and comparing Mouni Roy’s character with Scarlet Witch. We cannot straight away jump to conclusions. This was just the first trailer release. We can only wait for the rest of the trailers to be released to understand Ayan Mukherji’s concept of Brahmastra completely. Maybe it will be a firecracker, or we don’t know it yet. Will it be a magnum opus or a massive flop? Only time will tell! Check out the Brahmastra trailer and see it from a new angle by reading this review now!
